The goal of the Gender Equality and FoRB (Freedom of Religion or Belief) project is that women and men, boys and girls, living within their faith-informed context in Middle East and North Africa (MENA), experience the freedom to have, change, and manifest an alternative belief equally, regardless of their gender.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
Gender Equality & FoRB is a five-year project that comprises television and social media programs, online campaigns, and on-the-ground activities including support groups, workshops, and counselling referrals. It aims to help women and girls in the Arab world enjoy the freedom and dignity they deserve as people made equally with men by God. The project recognises that religious beliefs – in church and mosque – can play into the restrictions women face.

Project Lead, Maggie Morgan
“Our team has worked hard on project activities to ensure we involve and listen to people in the communities, engage theologians on the issue of women in the Church, and interview many women who have ‘everyday stories’. Through our television program and targeted social media campaigns, we then ‘scale up’ these activities and research – to reach more women and girls.”
IN PARTNERSHIP WITH...
The Gender Equality & FoRB project is implemented by SAT-7 Egypt in partnership with the Norwegian Mission Society and supported by DIGNI.
